What is alt text?
A text description of an image, for those who cannot view the image. Alongside screenreader users, this includes audiobooks and when an image is incapable of loading on a website.Alt text varies to suit its purpose. A graph is more technically described than a painting. A painting can be technically described if it's in an instructional or critical context. Depending on the role of the image, how it is described and the description's level of detail changes to suit its context.
Alt Text Example
Here are examples of varied alt text to suit different purposes, as well as a sample of my work.
